At last, a Sure Start for disadvantaged children
Article Abstract:
The UK's Labour government does seem to have some understanding of what the real causes of crime are and how to tackle them. This is reflected in its 540 million pounds sterling Sure Start programme, which aims to assist 125,00 children in 250 deprived areas. It is based on the view that how parents handle their children in the first three years of life will have a significant impact on the sort of adults these children become. The government plans to assist parents in learning how to help their children, and will also tackle deprivation by boosting family benefits for low-income parents.

Is it your relationship that needs help - or you?
Article Abstract:
It is becoming increasingly recognized that depression can be a key factor in marriage break-down. A partner suffering from depression can often be aggressive and hostile with those close to them, while being placid with friends and colleagues. Research has established that couples with a depressive member are more disharmonious. Some couples are incompatible, but those who are experiencing relationship problems should also look at their own pathology before deciding to end the relationship.
