Awop bop aloo bop and so on
Article Abstract:
Rock music criticism as it is understood today had its origins in the mid-1960s with the coming to fame of Bob Dylan. This form of criticism was refined and expanded in the 1970s, especially with Greil Marcus's collection of essays 'Mystery Train.' Since then, rock music criticism has been dominated by Hunter S. Thompson and Tom Wolfe, both of whom are closer to being journalists than critics. It is possible to argue that rock journalism has become debased as a critical mode.

Going about as low as it is possible to go
Article Abstract:
Classical composer Pbilip Glass, 56, has collaborated with pop musicians on several occasions, notably on his successful album 'Songs from Liquid Days.' In 1993 he created his 'Low Symphony,' based on the experimental instrumentals of Bowie's album 'Low.' In the 1970s David Bowie and Brian Eno attended a Glass concert at the Royal College of Art. Experimental concert work and experimental pop music overlapped in the art-rock scene in the 70s.

A little bit hillbilly, a little bit punk
Article Abstract:
Country music group BR5-49 has a style which is designed to be reminiscent of the origins of country music, rather than later developments. Its members feel that modern styles of country music, although initially popular, have now become formulaic. The group's repertoire is made up of traditional country music pieces and rather unusual original pieces. The originals tend to overshadow the well-known pieces.
