Back from the drink
Article Abstract:
Film director Karl Francis has experienced both low and high points during his career. He has gained a strong reputation for dealing with serious issues in realistic drama, but lost the chance of a Hollywood career in the 1970s because a drink problem made him very arrogant. He has been free of alcoholism since the early 1980s, and is now able to talk openly about his earlier problems. He has become more relaxed, and is now able to write about feelings, rather than just highly political issues.

Any chance of a chat, Raquel?
Article Abstract:
Raquel Welch has always wanted to be taken seriously as an actress, and is now moving into the theatre, where film actors and actresses have traditionally not had much success. She is soon to make her West End debut in 'The Millionairess,' which is currently touring provincial theatres. It has received mixed reviews, with many critics stating that the strong presence which she has in films does not come across when she is acting on stage.

Let's get the book on the road
Article Abstract:
It has now become important for new authors to make themselves well known among booksellers if they are to become really successful. Some now participate in roadshows, such as the Future of Fiction tour organised by publisher Hodder and Stoughton for six authors who have recently released their first books. The authors play a key role in encouraging booksellers to stock and sell their books.
