Music produced for science fiction films and television series has often been at the forefront of technical innovation. Initially, the music was simply made up of strange electronic sounds, but a more distinctive style of science fiction music later emerged. The music for '2001: A Space Odyssey' is regarded as the first classic science fiction score. Some music written for science fiction has later become a popular hit.

Not just the second man on the Moon

Being one of the first men to walk on the moon caused severe psychological problems for former astronaut Buzz Aldrin, as he was unable to cope with becoming a celebrity. However, he continued to play an active role in space science, and now has his life under full control. He has recently published a science-fiction novel, 'Encounter with Tiber,' which has received warm critical acclaim.

Many months are spent making costumes for the carnival celebrations in Trinidad, and everyone involved is determined to be seen by the crowds who gather to watch and by the television cameras. Tourists are given the opportunity to wear a costume and join one of around 30 bands taking part in the carnival procession, and can take part in many hours of singing and dancing.
