Beef isn't the burning issue
Article Abstract:
The recent conflict between the UK and the European Union about the ban on international trade in beef has highlighted that there is an economic argument for the UK leaving the European Union. More people are now beginning to believe that leaving the European Union would allow the UK to become richer, and this is therefore doing considerable damage to the position of supporters of European Union membership. However, the UK's economic problems are too serious to be attribute wholly to the European Union, and withdrawing from the European Union would also have serious political implications.

Now Blair must go out and sell his vision of reform
Article Abstract:
The UK government will be obliged to face up to considerable debate about political reform, especially devolution, when it publishes its White Paper on Scottish and Welsh devolution shortly. Prime Minister Tony Blair will have to work very hard to gain widespread public support for devolution, which cannot be separated from the wider constitutional issue of a new relationship between voters and the government. Considerable challenges are posed by the fact that ideological issues are inevitably bound up with arguments for and against constitutional reform.
