Bob Merrill

Composer and lyricist Bob Merrill began composing in 1947, although he could not read music or play a musical instrument. He had his first major pop hit in 1950 with 'Candy and Cake,' and this was followed by a series of hits for Guy Mitchell. He became most well known for the 1953 song 'How Much is That Doggie in the Window,' performed by Patti Page. He later became associated with successful stage shows, including 'Funny Girl' and 'Hello, Dolly.'

David Heneker
Article Abstract:
Composer and lyricist David Heneker was born in Southsea, England, in 1906. He joined the Army as a cavalry officer in 1925, remaining in service almost continually until 1948. He late became a cocktail pianist and singer at the Embassy Club in London, England.
