Britain is betraying her
Article Abstract:
The UK has made many promises to Burmese pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, but has failed to keep most of them. There is growing international pressure for sanctions against Burma, but the UK has introduced only limited measures. Derek Fatchett, minister responsible for Burma, states that sanctions are difficult, and believes that the legal grounds of urgency necessary for action are not being fulfilled. The UK should take a lead by imposing unilateral financial sanctions on Burma if the regime does not begin negotiations with Aung San Suu Kyi.

Article Abstract:
Relations between China and Tibet have become increasingly strained over recent years, and some observers believe that there is now a real danger to Tibetan language, culture and religion. Samdhung Rinpoche, leader of the Assembly of Tibetan People's Deputies, the Tibetan parliament in exile, has decided to start up a campaign of civil disobedience inside Tibet. This comes at a time when the Chinese government is making renewed efforts to discredit the Dalai Lama.
