Buchanan: the nightmare scenario
Article Abstract:
Pat Buchanan, who is currently seeking the Republican party's nomination as presidential candidate, is not currently expected to present a serious threat to president Bill Clinton at the election in Nov 1996. However, he may do so if a number of disasters, such as the failure of the US army in Bosnia, take place before then. The political mood in the US is extremely unpredictable, and Buchanan's religious right policies could possibly prove attractive to many voters.

It's the real thing: a few bottles of the finest from a family firm
Article Abstract:
There have traditionally been many small producers of champagne in the Cote des Blancs region of France. However, a considerable number of these are now joining village co-operatives or selling their grapes to the very large champagne houses. The Rene Gue vineyard, which covers only 2.5 ha, is now one of the few to be making, bottling and marketing its own champagne. The champagne is sold only to personal callers, and attracts people from across France.

The rich and energetic take over from the rich and idle
Article Abstract:
The Cote d'Azur region of France has undergone significant changes over recent years. It was once characterized by small, crumbling villages only a short distance inland from fashionable coastal resorts, and had many lavender fields and vineyards. It has begun to attract many wealth expatriates, and seems to have lost much of its typical French character. Only a few traces of traditional French rural life now remain.
