Article Abstract:
Political activist Henry James Penrith, known as Burnum Burnum, was one of around 100,000 Australian Aboriginal children removed from their families and placed in white foster homes between 1910 and the 1960s. He was involved in some of the most significant Aboriginal political campaigns, and was also successful in acting, rugby and cricket. He became talented at exploiting the white media in order to promote the Aboriginal cause, and gained particular attention in 1988, when he claimed England for the Aboriginal people.

Cliff Bere
Article Abstract:
Political activist Cliff Bere was born outside Wales, and only learned to speak Welsh as an adult. However, he became one of the most determined members of the Welsh Republican movement in the 1950s. He wrote the movement's manifesto, and was not afraid to face legal action in order to defend his beliefs. He was a talented graphic artist, and worked for 10 years at the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff, Wales. He was also a gifted writer and polemicist.

Ganesh Man Singh
Article Abstract:
Political activist Ganesh Man Singh joined the Praja Parishad, Nepal's first political party, in 1939. He refused to show the conventional deference to the Rana family, and in 1940 was sentenced to life imprisonment for anti-Rana activities. He escaped from prison in 1944, and then fled to India. He was one of the founders of the Nepali National Congress in 1946, and in 1957 led a successful civil disobedience movement.
