Jose Ignacio Lopez de Arriortua, 52, ex-head of worldwide purchasing for General Motors, is suspected of taking industrial secrets to Volkswagen (VW) when he transferred to their employ. Mr Lopez denies removing any GM documents, but the state prosecutor's office in Darmstadt, Dorothea Holland found four boxes of documents in a Wiesbaden flat of ex-Opel employees who followed Mr Lopez to VW. These contained secret plans for a new generation of small cars called the O-car.
