By-law freak let loose on Microsoft City
Article Abstract:
Seattle City Attorney. Mark Sidran, has been twice re-elected and is also criticized as a racist and fascist. He has passed laws against public drunkenness and urinating in the street as part of a tough stance to tackle misdemeanours in order to reduce the crime rate as a whole. The city is changing from being a provincial arts center to a headquarters for computer companies, and Sidran's views reflect this change. There is less tolerance for drug addicts and the homeless in the new Seattle.

Bihac feels menace of imam's knock
Article Abstract:
Many Muslims living in the Bihac pocket in north-western Bosnia have come under strong pressure from the imam of their local mosque as the elections of Sep 14, 1996, approach. It is being made clear to them that life could become very difficult if they step out of line, and that their life may even be put in danger. They are being told very negative things about opposition parties, and are being led to believe that voting will not be secret.
