Carl Perkins
Article Abstract:
Singer, guitarist and songwriter Carl Perkins worked on a cotton plantation from an early age, and this brought him into contact with country music. He formed a band in the early 1950s, and in 1954 was signed by Sam Phillips, owner of Sun Records. His first single, 'Turn Around,' was released in Feb 1955. He was badly injured in a car crash, and this caused his career to lose momentum. However, he realized that he would never really be able to rival Elvis Presley.
