Actress Joan Hickson knew from a very early age that she wanted to be an actress. She spent three years at Rada after leaving school, with her first stage appearance being in a provincial tour of 'His Wife's Children' in 1927. She made her debut in London, England, in 1928 in 'The Tragic Muse,' and made her screen debut in 1933 in the film 'Trouble in Store.' She soon gained a reputation for comic roles, and also played flustered maids, middle-class housewives and slightly deranged relations. She became most well-known for her appearance in 12 Miss Marple mysteries.

Julie Bishop

Actress Julie Bishop was born in Denver, CO, in 1914. She made her screen debut as a child in 1923 in 'Bluebeard's Eighth Wife,' and performed in several other silent films before joining the Pasadena Playhouse. She was then spotted by a talent scout for Hal Roach.

Actress and broadcaster Arlene Francis was born in Boston, MA, in 1907. She became involved in many radio shows, but made her Broadway debut in 1936. Her greatest Broadway triumph was in 'Once More, With Feeling,' in 1958.
