Meet Heather, Britain's town hall terminator
Article Abstract:
Financial management at Lambeth council in London, England, has improved dramatically over the last year, according to chief executive Heather Rabbatts. 60 employees have been dismissed for financial misconduct, while a further 60 have been disciplined, and council tax collections have risen to 74%. She took on control of the council at a time when it was extremely disorganised, and has insisted on being allowed to select all employees herself.

Thatcher directed arms crusade
Article Abstract:
Former prime minister Margaret Thatcher was greatly in favour of promoting the UK weapons industry in the 1980s. She was instrumental in a number of large arms deals, and ensured that the UK took advantage of Saddam Hussein's desire to re-arm Iraq. It was during this time that previously good relations between government officials and defence industry leaders began to break down.
