Cry 'God for Tony Blair, England and The Sun.' (UK Labour party leader Tony Blair changes his stance on European Union to suit different audiences)(Column)
Article Abstract:
UK Labour party leader Tony Blair seems to change his stance on the UK's relationship with the European Union to suit different audiences. Writing in the Sun newspaper, for example, he adopted a strongly nationalistic tone, and had no positive things to say about the European Union at all. However, he has also been much less anti-Europe when addressing other audiences. This tendency should be regarded as a cause for concern. If the Labour party wins the forthcoming general election and Blair takes up the tone of the Sun article, then this will have a negative impact on the UK's future.

Blair has persuaded himself to be a reform hedgehog
Article Abstract:
Labour party leader Tony Blair has committed his party to extensive political changes if it becomes the party of government. These would shift the balance of power away from the state and towards ordinary people. His stance is significant mainly because the initiative for political reform is now moving towards politicians, having previously been held by journalists, academics and campaigners outside government. Political reform will now be an issue which will attract serious political clashes.

But what's the score behind the door?
Article Abstract:
Labour party leader Tony Blair realises that he must build a strong policy programme if he is to have a chance of being more successful as prime minister than John Major. His opponents are already claiming that his current resolve will not stand up to the pressures of being prime minister. However, some work has already been undertaken to at least demolish the unrealistic expectations of what could Tony Blair could achieve if he became prime minister.
