Darkness at the end of the tunnel
Article Abstract:
Both Le Shuttle and Eurostar services will be severely disrupted for some time following a fire in the Channel Tunnel. There were no serious injuries, but all 34 passengers caught up in the blaze suffered the effects of smoke inhalation. Safety procedures seem to have worked well, but there will now be an inquiry into why the train was stopped rather than continuing to the terminal, which would have been the normal way to react. The fire comes at a time when the Channel Tunnel is already facing considerable difficulties.

The reining-in of the Stagecoach Kids
Article Abstract:
Stagecoach Chief Executive Mike Kinski has played a significant role in reining in the ambitions of brother and sister Brian Souter and Ann Gloag, the company's co-founders. He has thus been able to boost the company's respectability and divert the attention of the Office of Fair Trading. Analysts believe that Souter appointed Kinski at just the right time, when Stagecoach was becoming too large for him to run alone and Gloag had decided to play a less active role.
