Dirty hands blamed for increase in reported food poisoning
Article Abstract:
The number of notified food poisoning cases in the UK rose by 10% last year to 105,552. The reasons for the rise include more people reporting food poisoning and people ignoring food safety messages. The Food and Drink Federation research shows with the trend for once a week supermarket visits awareness of food hygiene for storing, preparing and cooking food is all the more important. With 23 million working days lost to food poisoning the cost to the nation is in excess of GB 1bn a year.
