Article Abstract:
The Bundesbank, the German central bank, needs to be made a more European institution, with its focus becoming less purely German. This will become particularly important as the UK looks likely to seek a monetary policy link with Germany within the next few years. Europe's monetary policy will inevitably be strongly influenced by Germany, but this would be more acceptable if the Bundesbank were made more European.

Chirac consigns Italy to Europe's second division
Article Abstract:
Italy has little chance of qualifying for the first round of European monetary union, according to French president Jacques Chirac.
