Edward Dmytryk

Film director Edward Dmytryk found work as a messenger boy at Paramount at the age of 15. He was hired as editor on 'Only Saps Work' in 1930, and for most of the 1930s worked as an editor. His career as a director really started in 1939, when he obtained a contract to direct a series of B movies. He moved to Columbia Studios in 1940, and rapidly gained a reputation as an efficient low-budget director. He moved to RKO in 1941, working on several propaganda films. He made some films in the UK in the late 1940s, but returned to Hollywood to make 'Mutiny' in 1952.

Roy Boulting

Film producer and director Roy Boulting was born in Bray, England, in 1913. He created a production company, Charter Films, with his twin brother John in 1937. His first major film was 'Pastor Hall,' made in 1939.
