Peter Carter
Article Abstract:
Peter Carter was an author whose children's books were awarded a number of prizes. His works have been translated into Japanese, German, Portugues, and at least three other languages, and he is better known in some foreign countries than in his native Britain. His first children's book was 'Madatan', which was published by Oxford University Press after it had accepted 'The Black Lamp', his second children's book. Carter enjoyed arguing and did not always want to listen to others. He was also able to make and keep friends.

Mario Puzo
Article Abstract:
Writer Mario Puzo grew up in Hell's Kitchen in New York, NY. He developed an interest in writing at an early age, but family financial problems forced him to work as a railroad clerk. He served abroad during the second world war, and then studied at the New School in New York and at Columbia. He worked as a civil servant, but wrote stories for magazines. His first novel, 'Dark Arena,' was published in 1955. He became most well known for 'The Godfather,' published in 1969.
