Quentin Crewe
Article Abstract:
Writer and traveller Quentin Crewe spent a great deal of his childhood being cared for by various relatives in the UK, as his parents lived abroad. He went to Cambridge University, England, to study law and economics, but developed a very full social life and spent little time studying. In 1953 he gained a job as a leader writer on the Evening Standard, and in 1960 published his first book, 'A Curse of Blossom.' After living in Japan in the late 1950s, he became one of the assistant directors of Queen magazine.

Mario Soldati

Writer and film director Mario Soldati graduated from Turin University, Italy, in 1927. He gained a fellowship to Columbia University, and in 1931 married a fellow student. His time in the US provided material for the book 'America primo amore,' published in 1935. His first novel, the surrealistic thriller 'La Verita sul caso Motta,' was published in 1941. His best-known novel, 'Le Lettere di Capri,' was published in 1954. He also made over 30 films.
