Europe is Britain's business
Article Abstract:
Continental Europe is an extremely important trading area for British companies, giving them access to more than 370 million consumers. The UK's international reputation is based partly on its being a major partner in a powerful European trading bloc, and European Union membership has been a key factor in the UK's success in attracting foreign investment. However, this situation may change if the UK's relationship with the rest of the European Union continues to deteriorate. For this reason, many business leaders are hoping that the Labour party will win the forthcoming general election.

The Europhobes who threaten Britain
Article Abstract:
Eurosceptics in the UK argue that an independent UK could maintain friendly links with the European Union. This is probably a very misguided view, as it is much more likely that relations between an independent UK and the European Union would be very strained. It would be necessary to stir up a great deal of nationalist sentiment in order keep the UK independent from the European Union, and a future Europhobic government would be likely to clash fiercely with people with federalist tendencies.
