Family that can find no hiding place from Kenya's bloodstained elections
Article Abstract:
There are serious ethnic tensions in Kenya in the run-up to the elections due to take place before the end of 1997. In a similar way to the pre-election period in 1992, people from certain ethnic groups are being driven away from particular areas, often with extreme violence. Up to 100,000 have left the town of Likoni, Kenya, alone, and refugees are now flooding into Mombasa, Kenya. Some have taken refuge in the grounds of the Holy Ghost Cathedral, but do not feel safe even there.

US starts aid flights after Kenya row ends
Article Abstract:
The row between Kenya and the US over relief aid to Somalia was rectified on Aug 21 1992. The Kenyan government had accused the US of taking over Mombasa's Moi International Airport to fly aid to Northern Kenya into Somalia without authority clearance. The US has caused airport congestion and had imported a large number of unspecified combat troops and weapons to help distribute relief aid. Kenya, the US and relief agencies will launch a joint coordinated relief programme.
