Fergie may be stupid - but she's not alone
Article Abstract:
The Duchess of York has certainly been guilty of various excesses and of attempting to create an unrepresentative media image of herself. However, it is hard not to feel some sympathy for her, as it appears that being associated with the royal family can create a range of difficulties. Indeed, her excessive media exposure is now working to the advantage of the royal family, as it is serving to detract attention from the activities of its other members. The royal family seems to have made marriage such a negative experience for the Duchess of York and the Princess of Wales that they would now rather become outcasts.

Who killed Yvonne Gilford? Who cares? Certainly not the tabloids
Article Abstract:
There is extensive media speculation in the UK media about whether British nurses Deborah Parry and Lucille McLauchlan were guilty of the murder of their colleague Yvonne Gilford in Saudi Arabia. The nurses, who have now been released from prison in Saudi Arabia, have sold their stories to tabloid newspapers. These newspapers are claiming that they are innocent, while those who failed to gain the stories are denouncing them as guilty. Media coverage has presented Parry and McLauchlan as victims, but has failed to highlight Gilford as the real victim.

Fergie, Mandy and Paula, we judge you
Article Abstract:
UK tabloid newspapers generally take a very negative approach to covering news stories relating to women, even if these stories actually relate to very serious issues, such as a woman's right to reject selective termination in a multiple pregnancy. In many of these stories, men are involved too, but they are almost completely ignored by newspaper journalists. The language used in reporting these stories is often loaded with moral judgements, and the lifestyle of the women concerned is called into question.
