Fool the viewers? I'd have to be kidding
Article Abstract:
Films and television programmes aimed at young people often attract controversy, as they tend to deal with sensitive issues such as sex and drugs. Television programmes are in fact closely regulated, and this is accepted by programme makers. However, they become frustrated when individuals or particular lobby groups attempt to make productions conform to their own values. With any film or programme, the most important thing is to present reliable facts, and this is welcomed by young people.

A holy mission to serve viewers
Article Abstract:
Television entertains and informs but does not lecture or solve involved discussions. Broadcasting companies are concerned with ratings, so require programmes which interest viewers. At a Central Religious Advisory Committee (Crac) meeting the president of NOS, a Dutch television company, stated that Christians should try to serve viewers rather than use them. Religious programmes reach a varied audience. Local radio is a useful medium for church communication.

The viewers are there: so who are they?
Article Abstract:
Small cable television channels in the UK are joining together in order to produce some reliable data about audience levels. This is a reaction to the fact that the cable sector has been largely overlooked by broadcasting ratings researchers. It is hoped that producing reliable information will make it easier for these channels to sell advertising space and analyse programme performance.
