How music built a bridge over troubled waters
Article Abstract:
Luciano Pavarotti has funded the 3.6 million pounds sterling Pavarotti Music Centre which is to open on Dec 21, 1997, in Mostar, Bosnia, almost entirely through his Pavarotti and Friends charity concerts and related recordings. A significant contribution was also made by fellow War Child patron Brian Eno and his wife Anthea Norman-Taylor. The centre will mainly focus on clinical music therapy through a programme established by Nigel Osborne. It will be the largest post-war reconstruction scheme in Bosnia.

Private sector to help build network for growth
Article Abstract:
The Sri Lankan government is determined to boost private sector involvement in infrastructure schemes, especially power generation, roads, ports and telecommunications. This is already being seen at Colombo Port, where there are plans for container port development. It is hoped that Sri Lanka will become the shipping hub for the whole region. The government's infrastructure improvement programme also places strong emphasis on upgrading Bandaranaike Aiport at Katunnayake, Sri Lanka.
