Freed from the ghetto mentality
Article Abstract:
The music of the Bobo Hill community near Kingston, Jamaica, is becoming influential internationally. Combining spiritually-uplifting messages with the ragga rhythms of modern raggae, the music can be seen as a particularly militant element within the wider Rastafarian religious movement. Its central belief is that all descendents of slaves in the diaspora are exiles living in Babylon who must be repatriated to Africa, especially Ethiopia. The most prominent Bobo musician is Sizzla, whose songs seem to contain great sincerity and conviction.

Dame Shirley: a disgraced liar
Article Abstract:
High Court judges have confirmed the view of district auditor John Magill that Dame Shirley Porter was guilty of wilful misconduct when leader of Westminster City Council in London, England. It was established that the Homes for Votes policy operated by Dame Shirley and David Weeks, her former deputy, between 1987 and 1989 was unlawful. The two are now liable to a surcharge of just over 27 million pounds sterling in revenue lost to the council as a result of the policy.
