Welcome to her nightmare
Article Abstract:
Stephanie Slater believes that her personality has undergone great changes since she was abducted and held for eight days in Jan 1992. She suffers terrifying dreams, she is very shy and has only a few trusted friends. She now lives on the Isle of Wight, where she feels safe from hurtful comments and media attention. She feels that it is unlikely that she will ever be 'ordinary' again, especially since her kidnapper has made bizarre claims since her book was published.

The truth about the 'Idle Women' of the canals
Article Abstract:
In the 1940's a Department of War Transport advertisement in the national newspapers attracted 45 young women to work on the Inland Waterways transporting coal and machine parts voluntarily. They were nicknamed idle women by the boat people born and bred on the canals because of the initials IW on their badges. A reunion was held in 1992 to watch a Mikron Theatre play, 'Imogen's War' written by Mike Lucas and Sarah Parks, using the women's diaries.
