Getting it taped
Article Abstract:
Pre-recorded Digital Compact Cassettes (DCC), which have compact disc (CD) sound quality but look like audio cassettes, will be available from Nov 09 1992. DCC tape-players will also play ordinary cassettes. CDs are not popular in cars, but DCCs have sprung metal sheaths over their tape so the playing surface will not be damaged in transit. Ease of removal from the cassettebox and appearance should attract the image-conscious. Record companies have agreed with Philips to market their artists on DCC.

'There's this man who comes with an inflatable parrot. And all night he's bobbing up and down with his bloody parrot. Me, me, me! is what it's all about.' (Sir John Drummond, BBC executive responsible for the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts)(Interview)
Article Abstract:
The last night of the Henry Wood Promenade Concert season has become increasingly exhibitionist over recent years, according to Sir John Drummond, BBC executive responsible for organising the concerts. Concert-goers are constantly trying to think of new stunts to attract the attention of the television cameras, and this can spoil the whole atmosphere. He supports strong cultural values, and does not believe that the performance should be spoilt by the behaviour of the audience.

More party politics
Article Abstract:
The parties which take place after the Gammy Award ceremonies are more important than the awards themsleves. The various record companies endeavour to outshine their competitors to attract the most celebrities. The Academy also hosts a post-award gala. Only 6 Gammy Awards have been held in New York out of 34 annual award ceremonies. The rest have been held in Los Angeles. The awards are worth $40 million.
