Gianni Versace
Article Abstract:
Fashion designer Gianni Versace gained experience of dressmaking at a very early age, as his mother was a dressmaker. He began freelance designing in 1973, and in 1978 launched his own label. He initially restyled basic sports clothes in luxurious materials, and later gained a strong reputation for clothes which were unromantic and sporty. He was keen to use latest technology, and frequently showed his talent for cutting and tailoring. His look had softened over recent years.
