Go get a life, Cosmo style
Article Abstract:
Cosmopolitan is among a number of women's magazines in the UK looking to extend their brand into new areas. National Magazines, which publishes Cosmopolitan, recently staged the Cosmopolitan show, where exhibitors were very keen to gain direct access to the magazine's readers, who are mainly young women. Brand extension can be extremely successful for magazines, bringing a great deal of free publicity and greatly increasing reader loyalty. It may also be vital to the survival of a magazine in an increasingly competitive publishing environment.

Barry and the fickle finger of fame
Article Abstract:
The recent death of actor Barry Evans, who appeared in a number of very popular television situation comedies in the 1970s, has drawn attention to the very temporary nature of celebrity. He quickly became stereotyped, and was eventually forced to take a break from acting in order to reconsider the direction of his career. Typecasting seems to have been a particularly serious problem for actors who appeared in 1970s situation comedies, possibly because so many of these comedies were based on very old-fashioned caricatures.
