Grin and bear it
Article Abstract:
The experiences of former gymnast Olga Korbut reveal the extent to which the Soviet regime exerted control over the lives of children who showed sporting talent. She was separated from her parents, and Renald Knysh, her coach, had full control over all aspects of her life. She has now revealed that he also forced her to have sex with him. It is clear that sporting systems in the eastern bloc were based on the ideological premise that the performers were the beneficiaries of the state and that they owed the state a debt of loyalty.

Article Abstract:
UK Prime Minister Tony Blair's practice of accepting free holidays continues to attract considerable controversy. He certainly deserves a holiday, but has done nothing to improve his image by using a villa belonging to the President of Tuscany, Italy, requiring the beach around the villa to be sealed off. Similarly, Prince Charles is holidaying on a yacht owned by Greek tycoon John Latsis, even though he is sufficiently wealthy not to need to accept holidays from other people.
