Renzo Mongiardino
Article Abstract:
Architect and interior designer Renzo Mongiardino grew up in an 18th century palazzo in Genoa, Italy, and this meant that he resisted the attractions of the Modern Movement when studying architecture in Milan, Italy, before the second world war. He took his inspiration from Palladio, Vitruvius and Bernini, and this led him naturally into theatrical and operatic set design. He worked on many productions at La Scala and Covent Garden, and later became involved in work for the cinema.
