Gordon Beningfield
Article Abstract:
Artist Gordon Beningfield was apprenticed as an ecclesiastical artist in St Albans, England, on leaving school at the age of 15. He worked extremely hard to perfect his paintings in watercolour and oils, as well as his glass engravings and bronzes. He became particularly well known for his watercolour paintings of countryside subjects. He was able combine his watercolour technique with his extensive knowledge of butterflies to produce his first book, 'Beningfield's Butterflies,' in 1978.
