Harry Edison
Article Abstract:
Trumpeter and bandleader Harry Edison joined a local band in Columbus, OH, at the age of 12. He joined the Jeter-Pillars Orchestra in 1933, and subsequently joined bandleader Lucky Millinder in New York, NY. He joined the Basie band at the end of 1937, and took solos on more than 50 of Basie's recordings from this era. He had a leading role in Gijon Mili's 1944 film short 'Jammin' the Blues,' and worked with Frank Sinatra for six years.

Milt Hinton
Article Abstract:
Bass player and photographer Milton Hinton was born in Vicksburg, MS, in 1910. He played with Freddie Keppard and Buddy Bolden before joining the band led by drummer Zutty Singleton in 1935.

Saxophonist and bandleader George Tate, known as Buddy, was born in Sherman, TX, in 1915. He was particularly popular in France, where he made some of his best recordings.
