The Marquess of Landsdowne
Article Abstract:
Politician and landowner George Petty-Fitzmaurice was a grandson of the fifth Marquess of Lansdowne. He first became involved in politics as secretary of the Junior Unionist League for East Scotland. He was seconded into the Free French forces during the second world war, and was promoted to Major in 1944. He succeeded as eighth Marquess in 1944. He was appointed joint Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs in 1957, and was promoted to Minister of State at the Colonial Office in 1962.

Sir Reginald Bennett

Politician and psychiatrist Reginald Bennett was born in Sheffield, England, in 1911. He studied Physiology at New College, Oxford, England, and finished his medical training at St George's Hospital and the Maudsley in London, England. He was elected MP for Gosport and Fareham, England, in 1950.

Lord Prentice

Politician Reginald Prentice was born in Croydon, England, in 1923. He served in the Royal Artillery between 1942 and 1946 and later gained a BSC (Econ) at the London School of Economics. He became Labour MP for Newham, England, in 1957.
