Harry is king of the hill
Article Abstract:
Estate agency chain Countrywide Assured Managing Director Harry Hill wants the business to be making an annual profit of 100 million pounds sterling when he retires in 2003. He acknowledges that estate agents have a negative image, but emphasizes that most of them are merely ordinary people. He runs the business aggressively, but does not feel that he is an aggressive person. He does not believe that he should feel ashamed of the way in which Countrywide has been able to sell a range of financial products to many of its customers.

Sterling performance
Article Abstract:
Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co (P&O) will invest $2 billion in five new luxury liners as it seeks to significantly expand its cruise operations. It plans that its cruise fleet will account for three-quarters of group operating profits and more than half of net operating assets. P&O is divesting its construction and property businesses, focusing on benefiting from the strong rise in interest in cruises. This approach has led to a sharp increase in the company's share price.
