New Yorker editor Tina Brown was attracting a great deal of attention in New York, NY, until recently. However, this situation has changed dramatically. Her contract at the publication has expired, but there is very little interest in whether she will remain there. This is partly because Si Newhouse, who is responsible for the magazine publishing side of the Newhouse family business, is known to pay very little attention to contracts when deciding to retain or dismiss staff. The lack of speculation about her future also reflects a general lack of interest in her.

How a spark in a Burger King led to national chaos

Article Abstract:

A 1 million pounds sterling fireproof membrane in the roof of Terminal 1 at Heathrow airport, London, England, played a key role in preventing the spread of a fire that probably started in a clogged air vent above the kitchens of Burger King. There were only 150 people in the terminal when the fire started, and nobody was injured. Emergency plans seem to have worked well, and the airport was operating almost normally within 12 hours of the fire starting.
