He'll never walk alone
Article Abstract:
Sooty, the glove puppet bear, first appeared on UK television in 1952 and has had a television show every autumn since. The Sooty Show is in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's longest running children's programme. Sooty was the brain child of the late Harry Corbett and his son Matthew now does the act. Sooty's World was founded in 1986 in Shipley, England by Patsy and Barry Redmonds. The character is being changed, including giving him legs, by graphic artist John Macgreggor so he can be used independently of Matthew Corbett.

The bhangra treat
Article Abstract:
The Ritz Ballroom, Manchester, England admits about 700 to a bhangra dance with bands Sat-Rang, the Safri Boyz, and Heera. Bhangra Asian pop music induces passionate dancing similar to breakdancing. Dances usually have about 30 boys to every girl, as traditional Asian parents do not approve of girls going to dance-halls. Bhangra uses a different rhythm system from Western music. It mixes techno, funk and reggae with traditional Asian music. No Asian record has reached the charts since 1982, but bhangra may succeed.
