'I still have no idea how I caught TB.' (growing number of cases of tuberculosis in United Kingdom)
Article Abstract:
There was a rise of 17.2% in the number of notified cases of tuberculosis (TB) in England and Wales between 1987 and 1993, a development which has also been seen in other European countries and in the US. TB is most common among people living in impoverished conditions, but nobody can regard themselves as fully immune to it. Vaccination gives 80% protection in childhood, but cannot give life-long immunity. TB can be effectively treated with antibiotics, but it is necessary to take antibiotics for a very long time to prevent a relapse.

Are boys good for schoolgirls?
Article Abstract:
It has been traditionally believed that co-education works to the advantage of boys, while girls tend to suffer. For this reason, girls' schools have fought hard to remain in existence, and many have achieved very high academic standards. This in turn has led to criticism that they are too selective. Latest research has shown that co-education does not disadvantage either girls or boys, and many observers believe that this system plays a vital role in preparing pupils for full adult relationships.
