'If this is peace, what is war?'(bombing in Omagh, Northern Ireland; includes related articles)
Article Abstract:
Nine children, 14 women and five men were killed as the result of a bomb attack in Omagh, Northern Ireland. There are also 11 victims who are critically ill. Omagh is some 60% Catholic and 40% Protestant. There was a warning that the bomb was due to explode, but it actually exploded in the area where people were sheltering, rather than where it was expected to go off. The Real IRA is though to be responsible, but it is not clear what the organization sought to achieve from the bombing.
