In Ireland, no war is still good news
Article Abstract:
Some observers now feel that the peace process in Northern Ireland has no chance of success, and there is even a feeling that a return to violence is possible. However, pressure from terrorists to drop the decommissioning of arms as a prerequisite for peace talks seems to be prompting them to become even more firmly committed to decommissioning, rather than making them more aware of the danger of a return to violence. The peace process must still be viewed positively, as every day without violence is a success.

Without Gerry, they'll need a miracle
Article Abstract:
Politicians involved in the peace process in Northern Ireland have expressed their determination that the process will continue, despite the recent IRA terrorist attacks. However, any peace process which excludes the IRA is meaningless. It is also vital to ensure the participation of Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams. Without him, there may be a political process but no real peace process.

Blurring the way round Ulster's impasse
Article Abstract:
The current deadlock in the Northern Ireland peace process will only be resolved by human will, not by the decommissioning of republican weapons. Even if weapons are decommissioned, the violence could still erupt again if the republican leaders wish this to happen. The main difficulty is a lack of trust between the two sides, and this can only be overcome by making compromises.
