In search of the lost art of porn
Article Abstract:
Hard-core pornography is now freely available in most Western countries, but remains the subject of strict legislation in the UK, where it is still widely assumed that pornography is worthless. In contrast, pornography is attracting extensive academic scrutiny in the US. There is a clear need to raise the level of debate about pornography in the UK, partly by reviewing pornography's place in culture. Film censors still do not have the critical frame of reference required to fully understand the films they must scrutinize.

The hero who melted
Article Abstract:
The decision by descendants of Robert Falcon Scott, who died on a South Pole expedition in 1911, to sell items found beside his frozen body has attracted controversy. Some observers believe that these items should be given to the nation, as this expedition was a significant historical event. However, it is important to remember that there is already an excellent collection of relics at the Scott Polar Research Institute in Cambridge, England.

Oh my God! They filmed Kenny!
Article Abstract:
The film 'South Park: Bigger, Larger & Uncut' raises some very important issues about the rating of films, both in the UK and in the US. In the US, this film was awarded an R rating, indicating that it cannot be seen by anybody under 17 unless accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. In fact, this rating is largely meaningless, as cinema staff generally fail to enforce it. The film itself addresses this problem as an element in its plot.
