Bomber Harris was unfairly blamed for terror raids
Article Abstract:
Sir Arthur 'Bomber' Harris may not have been the driving force behind the controversial policy of attacking civilian targets in Germany during the second world war, according to Richard Overy, professor of modern history at King's College, London, England. He claims that the policy was masterminded by Sir Charles Portal, chief of the British air staff, who was greatly admired. Harris disagreed with attacking civilian targets, but managed to work within this strategy to focus on industrial targets.

The invisible menace that left one dead and 102 injured
Article Abstract:
United Airlines has blamed severe clear air turbulence for the fact that one of its jets suddenly descended 300 mt when cruising at 33,000 ft two hours out of Narita airport in Tokyo, Japan. Of the 374 passengers travelling to Honolulu, Hawaii, 102 were injured and one died. Turbulence of this kind is quite common, and there have been a number of similar incidents in 1997. Experts are working on a radar system which will allow pilots to see areas of clear air turbulence in advance.
