It may be square, but it's wondrous
Article Abstract:
The square root of -1, i, can be argued to be the key element which sets humanity today apart from the people who were responsible for the original seven wonders of the world. The concept of i was first formally introduced by Rafael Bombelli, an Italian mathematician, in the 16th century, but was not used properly until the 17th century. Complex numbers and i now permeate modern life, but still manage to retain an ethereal property, as they cannot really be expressed properly in writing.

Put away that Filofax. Pick up that palmtop. Get with it
Article Abstract:
Many people are finding that palmtop computers have considerable advantages over paper-based personal record-keeping systems. Palmtops are able to store a wide range of information, and have functions that cannot be obtained with a paper-based system. They can be updated very quickly, and the information in them can be easily copied onto a backup disk. Manufacturers of paper-based systems should now consider how they can compete in the era of increasing digitalization.
