It takes toucan to salsa
Article Abstract:
Live salsa was first played in London, England, in 1975, but has never really established a strong presence there. Some salsa events have been very successful, while others have suffered from inadequate financial backing and poor publicity. It is becoming clear that salsa events will only attract large audiences if the right artists are selected and sufficient investment is made in high-profile publicity. Salsa's fortunes may improve following the forthcoming Salsa Ball at Olympia.

Talking to the shah of Oran
Article Abstract:
London Algerians appreciate the rai star Khaled who has made about 70 records in 15 years. He has lived in France since 1988. His record 'Didi' was the first Arabic record to reach the French Top Ten. It comes from the album 'Khaled' which together sold 1.5 million copies in Algeria. The music on this album reflects the atmosphere of impending doom in Algeria and represents the cosmopolitan nature of his country. The Islamic Salvation Party (FIS) considers rai music hedonistic.
