It's good to talk. But it costs
Article Abstract:
Most people find it very hard to work out with any degree of certainty which is the most cost-effective telephone service for their needs. In general, Mercury is cheaper than BT, and cable companies are cheaper than Mercury. However, the final costs depend on what sort of calls are made most frequently. It is also worth noting that there can be large differences between the charges made by different cable operators.

The death of the welfare state
Article Abstract:
The UK government has reduced or abolished many welfare benefits, leaving people to finance their own provision. The welfare state is slowly being eroded, and this trend is unlikely to ever be reversed, even by a future Labour government. The cut-backs have resulted from demographic and financial considerations, rather than political ones. These problems are common to almost all western nations.

Only the brave venture abroad
Article Abstract:
Recent fluctuations on currency markets have left private investors wondering whether foreign markets are too risky. However, cautious investment abroad can be worthwhile. It can be a way of diversifying risk in a portfolio, making it less dependent on the performance of the UK economy, and it can bring very large returns if handled carefully.
