Jobless in Leipzig, taxed in Liverpool
Article Abstract:
Creating a single European currency will inevitably mean creating a shared European tax system. The European Union is already attempting to control the tax levels set by member countries, and will eventually want to spend more of the tax revenue raised by individual countries. A single tax system would mean that the UK, as one of the richer countries in the European Union, would subsidise poorer countries. There would also be a need for a large rise in European public spending in order to deal with the inequalities created by a common interest rate.

How I would free drivers from gridlock
Article Abstract:
There is a lot that the UK's counties and boroughs could do to improve traffic flows. They could stop installing artificial barriers to traffic flow, such as chicanes and bollards, on main routes, recognising that deliberately slowing the traffic too much can cause more problems than it solves. They could make better provision for transporting children to school, especially secondary school, other than by car, and could ensure that their own employees travel by car as little as possible.

We didn't vote for a country called Europe
Article Abstract:
Most British people still see the logic behind having economic ties with the European Union, but resent the fact that the UK is becoming increasingly dominated politically by the European Union. The UK should continue to play a leading role within the European Union, thus ensuring that its views are made known. However, it should also be aware that its economic interests lie in worldwide trade and modern industries.
