Margot Walmsley
Article Abstract:
Margot Walmsley was a journalist who was born in 1914 and began her working life on the Daily Graphic, London, England. She later worked as a secretary at Encounter magazine which promoted Western values during the Cold War. She contributed efficiency to the magazine, which was needed because the editors tended to be talented but disorganized. The journal was attacked by Conor Cruise O'Brien, an Irish politician who discovered funding came partly from the Congress for Cultural Freedom, which he asserted was a CIA front. Encounter's editor, Melvin Lasky, attacked O'Brien, who won a libel suit, but Walmsley's charm was a reason why O'Brien agreed to nominal damages. Walmsley was also a talented literary hostess.

The truth, the whole truth (and anything but the truth)
Article Abstract:
Brill's Content, a new monthly magazine launched by Steven Brill, aims to expose unscrupulousness of the US media. Brill hopes that this will become a mainstream publication, attracting an audience of 500,000 over five years. It is aimed at the media consumer, rather than the media themselves. Some observers have expressed reservations about whether enough consumers will be really interested in many of the magazine's subjects. Members of the media are clearly watching the magazine closely, but its real test will be in attracting interest from the general public.
