Michael Heseltine, the Tories' golden vision, lays down his political mace and becomes a publisher first and last
Article Abstract:
Former UK Deputy Prime Minister Michael Heseltine seems to become coming to the end of his political career. For this reason, he is becoming more actively involved again in Haymarket Publishing, the company he founded in 1959. This concern has been extremely successful, especially with Campaign, an advertising industry magazine. It is believed that this magazine has made a significant contribution to the wealth of the Heseltine family, estimated at 150 million pounds sterling. He has made it clear that Haymarket will be a family-run business.

James Brown, the guru of laddism, leaves 'GQ' after a lapse of taste
Article Abstract:
GQ Editor James Brown is believed to be negotiating his leaving package after coming into conflict with Conde Nast, the magazine's publisher, over a feature in the Mar 1999 edition in which he included Rommel and the Nazis in a list of the 200 most stylish men of the 20th century. This attracted criticism from the Anti-Nazi League and Jewish organizations. Brown's position had already been made insecure by the fact that GQ's circulation had not been rising as rapidly as Conde Nast had hoped.

Can the lad turn into a gent?
Article Abstract:
It appears that sales of GQ magazine have not risen significantly since James Brown, creator of Loaded magazine, was appointed editor. Indeed, sales may even have fallen. Furthermore, GQ is facing growing competition from Esquire, which is gaining business from some fashion advertisers which have previously used GQ. Brown denied that he would make GQ more like Loaded, but the former magazine has in fact become more hard-hitting and contains more sex.
